I’m with “Barry of Brisbane”: has Phillip Adams sold out? Why has he been allowed off the back page and into a real live up-front Blog? I suspect a rouge clone. Is this a bait? Is he being monitored? Will the real Mr PA please confirm what ‘establishment logic’ has permitted his normally fine and sane words to surface like this?

But then we have the voice of “Chom Fa” who has very happy little feet that our PM is an international mute nullity: “Howard fulfills my requirements on the International political stage, quite nicely”. Oh, orgasm! Happy are the ignorant, with their feet in the trough of ‘goodness’ and their noses up the rear of any ‘might-is-right’ plutocrat.

What a classic line: this is the Australian disease at its heart, the national psychic illness at its most shameful best. Without a sense of shame and honour and conscience this small isolated settlement of late 19-century antipodean thinking [is] an endangered species in the emerging Asian region.

Howard’s international mating calls seem only to attract strange bully-birds of empire days: both yesterday’s long gone and today’s fast going. Blair is all but gone, with Brown booting hard for a real post-faith-based UK foreign policy. Bush is flying in free-fall denial, undies on the outside, with the earth-scale reality fast approaching. Howard was peacocking round the White house, pecking seeds until caught laying huge invisible $300m golden wheat-based eggs in Baghdad.

I believe that Australia has a nerve disconnect between its head and its arse. A kind of national epidural must be occurring. Other’s dismiss this theory, claiming there is little evidence of a real spine in the first case. I, for one, consider Mr Adams to be mostly at the thinking end. Mr Adam’s public thoughts and words are Australian art@work: whether on climate change scenarios, or other matters, they are always worth serious consideration. Left, right, centre: who cares! Perhaps Lenin was right about selling the rope to capitalism to hang themselves, except in the timing, and the fact that they are going to hang us all if the climatic indicators are real.

Reading Adams in the Australian has always reminded me of my (now departed) grandmother’s singsong: “I’m just a little petunia in an onion patch.” Seeing that Australia is now far more ‘ducky’ than ‘lucky’ – I’d say the new tune is: “I’m just a little onion in a petunia patch”. Keep at it PA! Alas, if you don’t then no one else will it seems. The future: I’m interested in how useful Rudd’s Mandarin will become as China moves into east Africa, Asian and Fiji regions. [on our coal fired power stations, iron ore and possibly uranium].
